SWEM is a community food cupboard serving the southwest region of Rochester/ Monroe County. We provide emergency food bags at satellite sites through requests to a telephone Help-line staffed by our office manager and volunteers. We also deliver monthly food bags to elderly clients with limited finances. The final program is distribution of Christmas dinner baskets to those in need. All the work of SWEM is carried out by volunteers.

Volunteers Needed

People to help in obtaining food, packing, and distribution.

People to answer the Help-Line requests for emergency food. Times are flexible, training is given, and the calls can be forwarded to your home.

Especially needed: drivers the third Saturday morning of the month to deliver food to our senior clients.

Someone to buy fresh fruits and vegetables to be included in food bags for seniors. Anyone who enjoys the downtown public market or farmers' markets might find this a wonderful volunteer opportunity.
