Reach Out and Read is a pediatric early-literacy program designed to encourage
literacy development in young children, with an emphasis on families living
in poverty. ROR reaches children beginning at 6 months of age through their
pediatrician and provides them with a book at each well-child visit, as well
as providing parents with the education and support they need to make books
an important part of their children's lives.

Readers for pediatric clinic waiting rooms throughout the Rochester area. Volunteers
read to children as they wait for their appointment. Training provided.
Volunteers to hold used book drives in their schools, neighborhoods,
and places of worship. Training provided.
