Dimitri House is an outreach to the poor and homeless in the Rochester community, with an emphasis on the belief that we all are children of God deserving of dignity and respect.

Volunteers Needed

Work in the emergency food cupboard interviewing clients, bagging food, shelving food, etc. Open year-round Mondays from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.; open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. by appointment. Clients can use our food cupboard once every 30 days.

Work the drop-in program. Serve a meal, kitchen work, cleanup. We are looking for friendly volunteers who can offer hospitality to our guests, play cards, or just sit and talk. Open year-round on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons (also open Sunday afternoons November to April) from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Work the 7-bed men's emergency winter shelter from November to April (9:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) Two volunteers stay the night and prepare and serve a hearty breakfast in the morning.

Work our annual fundraiser, The Wine, Dine, and Share at The Lodge at Woodcliff, in mid-October. Various volunteer jobs include selling raffle tickets, setting up the dining room, tearing down, obtaining specific donations, and a variety of other helpful jobs.

Deliver holiday baskets to families the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
