Every day is Earth Day at the Academy for Career Development (ACD). Not only are computer electronic components kept out of landfills but they are recycled back into the community. ACD CommuniTech Recycling Center, a "Micosoft Authorized Refurbisher" recycles computers and gives them free to needy children, teens, adults, and seniors to help them succeed in work and school.
ACD CommuniTech volunteers and staff technicians collect used computers, free of charge, and certify erased hard-drives according to DOD (Department of Defense) standards. Since 1992, ACD has set up over 60 Community Computer Labs and refurbished over 3,000 free computers. In addition, ACD provides free fundamental computer skills training and counseling.
| Please donate your unwanted computers to ACD Communitech. Computer equipment can be dropped off at CommuniTech Remanufacturing Center, 420 Dewey Avenue, Rochester, NY 14613. The building is behind the City Recreation Department Administration Building on the 2nd Floor. Operating Hours M-F: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Telephone: (585) 719-9992 or email mmiller@acdcareers.org. |
